*** Under Construction ***

You do not need to spend a huge amount of money to be able to deploy an amateur radio station in the field. You probably already have most of the material you need, including the radio. The very simplest field station would consist of a modest hand held transceiver, and perhaps an extended antenna and some spare batteries. Throw it all into a carrying case and you have your deployable station.

Ed Harris, KC0UKR, is our team's field station guru. He insists that field stations should be simple and easily transported. For that matter, the transceiver that you use in your shack, if properly mounted, could quickly convert to a deployable station.

Here are radio deployment solutions that various amateur radio operators have devised.

Rolling filebox comm center

Barry Goldblatt, WA5KXX, designed this station-in-a-file-box. His plans and original article can be found on the Plano Amateur Radio Klub Web site.

Our team's Steve Wooten, KC0QMU, built this comm center based on Barry's design.
