Minutes of the July 19, 2004 Meeting

John Weis, N0UFB, District C Official Emergency Station, presided over the monthly St. Louis County ARES^® meeting held on July 19, 2004.

John said that he had attended a CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) drill run by the Metro West Fire Protection District. He also attended a hamfest in Washington, Missouri. He made new contacts at both events.

Chuck Wehking, KC0QKS, was the guest speaker. He talked about small, portable antennas and passed out handouts and 'attendance prizes'.

John announced that Gary Hoffman, KB0H, had been appointed as the St. Louis County ARES^® Net Manager. He also said that Gary would be the net control station for the upcoming CUSEC drill. (CUSEC = Central United States Earthquake Consortium)

An attendee mentioned that the Missouri ARES^® Web site had a list of suggested frequencies to use during emergencies.
