Steve Wooten, KC0QMU, the Emergency Coordinator, presided
over the monthly St. Louis County
ARES® meeting held on
March 21, 2005.
Steve gave the results of the recent VHF-to-HF Relay Test. He briefly
mentioned ARES® ID cards. He listed
the upcoming hamfests and other ham radio related events.
Responding to a question about repeater backup power, Bob, N0LHJ,
said that the W0SRC repeater used batteries.
An attendee (I didn't catch who) asked about what expectations
ARES® had of a repeater during an
emergency. For example, would ARES®
expect to have exclusive control of the repeater? (The answer was 'yes'.)
Bill, KC9CIK, said that the MS-150 Bike Tour kept growing each year
and that it would need 50-60 amateur radio operators this year. He encouraged
volunteers to sign up early.
Jim, N0OBG, gave a presentation on DC power. He included slides, physical
examples, and handouts.
Jim asked what other kind of presentations the group would like to see.
Gary, KB0H, responded and said he'd like to see something on field antennas
and possibly a presentation on handheld transceiver antennas.
Craig, K4LSU, said he had a mobile NVIS 80 meter antenna that he'd
like to bring in and show.
