Minutes of the June 20, 2005 Meeting

Steve Wooten, KC0QMU, the Emergency Coordinator, presided at the monthly St. Louis County ARES^® group on June 20, 2005.

Steve said that we now had 41 members in the group. He thanked Paul, K0TPY, for making ARES announcements on other nets. He said that the group would have a table at the Washington hamfest on July 17. He said that the group was looking into obtaining 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit tax status. He said that we are thinking about securing a backup repeater. He mentioned that we had run a test on the 147.285 repeater. He said we are hoping to get hospitals and other organizations to donate used batteries to us. He also said that we accepted donations of used equipment to help us raise money. He said that the next Planning Committee meeting would be in July (it will be on July 16). He then introduced the guest speaker, Rick Crockett, W0PC.

Rick gave a presentation on the Automatic Position Reporting System (APRS).
