Steve Wooten, KC0QMU, the Emergency Coordinator

St. Louis County ARES® group on
September 10, 2007. The Meeting was held at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital.
Steve said that the group currently has 68 members.
Steve gave an update on the installation of amateur radio equipment at the
Veterans Administration Medical Center sites. He said that the Jefferson
Barracks Hospital site installation was complete. He said that a test had
been performed on the equipment on September 6, 2007 and that the station
works fine on 2 meters and 70 centimeters in voice mode. Another test will
be performed after cables for the TNC have been installed.
Steve mentioned that St. Louis County ARES®
would have a table at the Halloween Hamfest on Saturday, October 27, 2007.
He invited everyone to stop by to visit.
Steve said that he had helped the Washington University Amateur Radio Club
man a table at the W.U. New Student Activity Fair. He said that he met with
the new acting club president. He said that WUARC will allow St. Louis
County ARES® to use the club's 2 meter
repeater anytime. The repeater currently needs some repair work.
Steve said that some antennas had been donated to the group, including
a Butternut HF6V. He said that he needed help, in the form of labor and
a 30' or longer extension ladder, to remove a donated 40' crank-up tower.
Steve stated that Rich Will, KB0IAN, will teach a course on Standardized
Awareness of Weapons of Mass Destruction (approved by Homeland Security)
on Saturday, October 6, 2007. It will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and will

August 20, 2008.
Steve described St. Louis County ARES'S®
Field Station Demo and Exercise, planned for Saturday, October 13, 2007.
VHF/UHF/HF, voice and digital modes will be used. The event will be held
at Queeny Park from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM. Directions were given. Steve
said that a variety of volunteers were needed, not just for radio operation.
He said that the Site Manager, Craig Hirsh, K0CMH, was drafting an
instruction sheet. He also said that a press release was being prepared.
Curbside loading and unloading will be permitted, but all vehicles must
be parked in the parking lot and not at the site.

would include members' names, current addresses, types of radios and
power levels, what kinds of antennas and their heights.
The St. Charles Amateur Radio Club will be holding a Technician License
class starting on September 19, 2007. Contact Rick, W0PC, at 636 327-2150
for more information.
