Steve Wooten, KC0QMU, the Emergency Coordinator,
presided over the monthly meeting of the
St. Louis County ARES® group on
May 10, 2010. The meeting was held at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital.
Steve welcomed everyone, acknowledged visitors, and had everyone introduce
themselves.
Steve used the room's audio-visual system to display the
St. Louis County ARES®
Web site. He encouraged members to check the Members Only section and
showed how to access it. A few members indicated that they were still
having access problems.
Bill Wallace, KC0TGY, noted that with Firefox the left-side sub-menus
appear in the wrong place. He said that if you reload the page the
sub-menus will behave correctly.
Steve showed the Resources page and where various forms could be
obtained.
Steve said that the next
ARES®
exercise will tke place on Saturday, June 5, 2010, probably at about
10:00 AM. It will be a message handling exercise.
There will probably be a "Packet Day" in late July or early August.
This will be to demonstrate various packet radio features that the
group uses and to familiarize members with the equipment and programs
that are used.
Steve went over the St. Louis and Suburban Radio Club's upcoming
events and urged everyone to participate.
Steve said that ARES®
would have a VHF/UHF digital position at the St. Louis & Suburban Radio
Club's Field Day site. He said that he needed volunteers to help man it.
Bill Wallace held an impromptu drawing and gave away two 12 volt
power supplies.
