Weekly 2 meter digital nets
PSK31 and Packet Radio Modes
St. Louis County ARES® holds a pair
of back-to-back digital nets on Wednesday evenings, immediately following
the 7:30 PM voice net.
The first digital net is on 145.085 MHz FM (simplex) and runs in
PSK31 mode.
The second digital net is on 145.070 MHz FM (digipeater, but use the
same frequency for input and output) using packet radio protocols.
More than anything else, these are learning and teaching
nets. No one expects you to know everything. Many people have difficulty
with the hardware and software. Feel free to ask questions (try the
146.850 repeater, someone is usually monitoring). We also discuss digital
issues and problems at the monthly
St. Louis County ARES® meetings
and during special digital workshops.
You are welcome to participate
These are open nets and all amateur radio operators are welcome to
join in, regardless of their level of expertise.
The computer software is free
The software used during the St. Louis County
ARES® digital nets is free. You can
either download the freeware from the Internet (see links below), or,
if you prefer, we can give you a CD with the software on it.

Change in Packet Net Procedure
If you participate in the St. Louis County
ARES® digital net,
please be advised that there has been a change in the
procedures for the packet radio portion of the net. To
participate in the packet net, just connect to the Missouri Emergency
Packet Network (145.070 MHz FM, no tones). Do not go into
"talk" mode. Just wait for the Net Control operator to contact you.

St. Louis County ARES® would
like to thank the owners and operators of the Missouri
Emergency Packet Network for their guidance, continuing
support, and for allowing us to use the MSTL digipeater
for our practice sessions.
